The men’s AW25 shows have just finished and Copenhagen Fashion Week wound up after a very busy few days so we are already well into everyone’s predictions for what we will be wearing at the end of the year, and that’s before the Spring/Summer collections even hit the stores. (Check out our coverage in the fashion section here). However our eyes aren’t totally on the future: there are plenty of things happening right now, from posh denim and upmarket nylon to a celebration of our favourite velvet-nosed Finnish friends. Here’s a round-up of what caught our eye these past few days.
More changes in the design world

Last year’s flurry of firings and hirings was far from the end of fashion’s revolving door syndrome and it looks like there will be plenty of new appointments at some of the biggest brands in the next month or so. So far this year, all the definite news has been about people leaving their posts with the rumour mill running overtime to work out where they are going but some look more likely than others. Daniel Lee leaving Burberry (maybe to go to Jil Sander?), Jonathan Anderson quitting Loewe for Dior (an exciting prospect!), Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez abandoning their own brand Proenza Schouler, perhaps to take the reins at Loewe… all are possible. One rumour was that Kanye West might become creative director at Margiela but mercifully that is not true with Glenn Martens taking the role instead But still no news about where Galliano and Pier Paolo Piccioli are going… when we know, you will know!
Levi’s Blue Tab

Levi’s have always been a leader when it comes to casual denim workwear but this month are launching a new collection that elevates the fabric into something altogether more upmarket. Stepping slightly away from actual jeans (though there are some of those here too), Blue Tab, as it is called, offers blousons, parkas and shirts in a variety of chambrays and luxury denim, all with a more sophisticated aesthetic. Most fun perhaps is a dark denim suit that is their take on a Canadian Tuxedo and something that feels like a really stylish departure for the venerable brand.
Moon Boot x Mattias Gollin

Just when you thought the trend for ugly footwear was over, these horrors appear! Moon Boot (not exactly known for elegance and style) has just launched the Flakes collection, designed by Mattias Gollin, that comes encrusted with fake pearls and crystals to give a trompe l’oeil snow effect. Like a nightmare mash-up of an Ugg and a child’s Croc with charms, these are destined to be worn ‘ironically’ by fashionistas and valley girls alike but most definitely not by us.
Prada’s Re-Nylon

Prada are such a household name these days, it’s hard to remember when they first hit the headlines back in the 90s when Miuccia revived her family’s luggage business by using lowly black nylon for bags and clothes. The fabric is still synonymous with the brand but with an eye on sustainability, Prada have relaunched the concept under the name Re-Nylon using recycled plastics collected from the ocean. The rucksacks, bucket hats and handbags might still cost a fortune but 1% of profits will be donated to the Sea Beyond charity easing the buyer’s conscience just a little bit at least.
Rue de Tokyo x Moomin

2025 sees the 80th anniversary of Tove Jansen’s much-loved Moomintroll books so expect a slew of commemorative events throughout the year but we don’t think many of them will be as stylish as the capsule collection created by Danish brand Rue de Tokyo in their honour. Using original artwork from the book’s illustrations, you can find Moominpapa on the front of a t-shirt, Moomintroll and friends embroidered on the back of a jacket and the iconic comet over Moominland shooting across the chest of a blouson. We will be channelling our inner Snufkin this spring for sure.
