Olympics medals on a fancy tray, new mules and Off-White back in Ibiza

Considering that about 90% of Danes go on vacation in July, it’s easy to forget that the rest of the world keeps working. So even though we might be sat by a pool or dipping in the harbour, we still thought we should keep you up to date with what’s going on out there. From luxury houses getting in on the Olympics or making your shower routine that bit more lovely to a few more collabs that mix together fashion, music, beach clubs and mules, this is what caught our attention whilst we sipped rosé on the beach.

Louis Vuitton and Paris Olympics 2024

Due to start in just a few weeks, it seems that the Paris Olympics will, not surprisingly, be the chicest version of the games ever seen. Not content with being a major creative partner in the opening ceremony (the exact details of which are, of course, top secret) Louis Vuitton have also designed the medal trays used for presenting the gold, silver and bronze gongs to winning athletes. Covered in signature Damier checks, they look as covetable as the prizes they hold. And to complete the picture, the presenters themselves are dressed in LV polo shirts, pants and jaunty caps that reference the uniforms from the 1924 Paris Olympics.

Miu Miu x New Balance 530 Mules

Finally! A pair of quirky hybrid shoes that don’t fall into the ugly category! Miu Miu have teamed up with New Balance for a second time to create a pair of sneaker-slide mash-ups (snides?) that are actually pretty damned cool. Basically they are a sawn-off version of New Balance’s famous 530 shoe with a modified footbed appropriate for the style and they come in a faded white or a more traditional brown colourway. Sadly half a shoe does not mean half the price – these babies come in at over €1000…

Off-White™ Returns to Ibiza’s Casa Jondal

For the second year running, Off White have worked with boho-chic Ibizan beach club Casa Jondal to create a bunch of summer-ready accessories that are scattered around the bar and restaurant but can also be bought and taken home with you. Sit on beach towels that tell you to ‘Switch Off’, play paddle board with arrow logoed bats and put your swimwear in specially designed tote bags. The brand is also looking out for your health too: matchboxes and ashtrays feature the words ‘Don’t Do It’ as a last attempt to prick summer smokers’ consciences.

Celine’s Bath and Body Line

Whilst Hedi Slimane waits to see if he gets that phone call from Chanel he has been busy expanding the skincare range at his current workplace Celine. Adding to the bath and body line that the brand launched last year, a new liquid soap, hand cream, body milk and hair mist have been introduced. They all appear in a handful of Celine’s very popular fragrances – including the deliciously named ‘Reptile’ – and are a nice way of buying into the luxury house without having to buy an insanely priced bag.

Acne Studios x Spotify

In a further attempt to be a full lifestyle brand, ACNE have decided to give us a soundtrack to our days via an ongoing partnership with music streaming service Spotify. As part of their ACNE People programme which brings together brand fans, artists and musicians, the platform will feature an ongoing series of events that highlight both new and established talent. How this pans out in reality is still anyone’s guess – hopefully, it will be more than just putting a singer in an ACNE sweatshirt – but the potential to combine music and fashion on a vast scale could be interesting.
