Week 25.
What’s been happening this past week? These are some of the things we found interesting in the past few days…
Pharrell’s First Show for Louis Vuitton
Undoubtedly THE fashion event of the year has to be the debut show of Pharrell Williams as creative director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear which took place in Paris this past Tuesday evening. In unsurprisingly lavish style, the luxury giant took over the entire Pont Neuf with guests such as Beyonce, Rhianna and Jay Z arriving by bateau mouche. Understated it was not. But what about the actual clothes? To be honest, they seem to be a bit of an afterthought in the whole hullabaloo. With a suitably DJ approach of sampling and mixing, Pharrell did endless workings of LV logos and Daimier checks and threw in a bit of Nigo here and a touch of Chanel there. It was wearable and very commercial but maybe lacked the sense of exploration that his predecessor had. For sure though, it will set the LV tills ringing around the world.

Tissot PRX 35mm

If you are a watch nerd, there is no need for an introduction to the Swiss watchmaker’s PRX line and actually, you might already own one. Inspired by the original 70s watch with its integrated bracelet, Tissot is taking its automatic movement into a new 35mm case. Previously only available in a case diameter of 40mm, this smaller version might be a great option for those with a smaller wrist or who prefer a smaller watch. With its power reserve of 80 hours, water resistance of 100m and its great quality make, you cannot find a better looker for the €700 price tag. The new line comes with a dial in blue, black, green, and a white mother of pearl.
Byredo’s “Summer Rain” Candle

Considering the insanely warm, dry and sunny weather we have been enjoying in Copenhagen over the past month or so, it seems fitting that Byredo choose to launch a new scented candle that aims to evoke the smells of a summer rainstorm – after all we might need something to remind us what they are actually like. As high concept as we expect from the Swedish brand, the fragrance includes ginger to give a touch of lush greenery, spearmint for a little freshness and tonka beans that reference newly soaked earth. Light one and remember the days before global warming made Scandinavia the new Mediterranean.
Zalando’s The Art of Remade

We don’t need an additional reason to visit Heartland, the fantastic music and art festival held in Denmark every June, but Robin was invited to go see the installation by Fatima Fransson done in collaboration with Zalando x Designer’s Remix (a lot of teamwork going on there!). Strips of fabric hung from aluminium tubes to create an environment that celebrated recycling, craftsmanship and sustainability (all the materials were leftovers from past projects) as does the collection itself. Designers Remix have successfully avoided any hint of homespun dressmaking in a collection that feels well thought out and aspirational (not always the case with ‘reworked’ offerings). Although ostensibly aimed towards women, we would definitely rock some of the striped short-sleeved shirts, slouchy blazers and raw-edged bucket hat.
New Balance 9060 “Prism Purple”

If you follow us, you might have noticed Robin’s “obsession” with New Balance sneakers and especially one of his favourite silhouettes – 9060. This summer, New Balance is gearing up and bringing this silhouette in a new colourway called Prism Purple. Taking inspiration from the classic 99X models and looking back to the Y2K sneakers era, this might be a shoe for you that for sure would catch the eye of any onlooker.
Oscar Jacobsen store

Heritage Swedish tailoring brand Oscar Jacobsen seems to be on the ascent these days. Spurred on by the post-pandemic trend to dressing up a bit more, they just opened their Scandinavian flagship store in central Copenhagen. Set over two floors in a striking corner building on Christian IX Gade, surrounded by some of the city’s cooler fashion brands, the store offers everything you need to look sharp at everything from work to a wedding.
