What just happened?

From this year’s colours to mountain shopping, with collabs included

week 1.

From this year’s colours to mountain shopping – stuff that happened whilst you were eating your xmas lunch.

Jacquemus Mountain shop

Recognising perhaps that, for many, a skiing vacation has very little to do with being on the snow but is rather all about social life, apres-ski drinking and luxury shopping, the king of pop-ups, Jacquemus, has just opened a store in the alpine resort of Courchevel. Despite being called The Mountain Shop, there are no padded trousers and zip-up ski jackets to be found but instead, a selection of handbags, accessories and ready-to-wear that will serve you well when you are back in the city (though the image of fashionistas determined to wear their new high heel boots in meters of snow is quite funny…)

J.Lindeberg x Robbie Williams

In a somewhat left-field celebrity collaboration, J Lindeberg has just announced a collection that they developed with the help of ex-Take That singer Robbie Williams. And to make it even more unexpected, it’s not based around Mr Williams’ stage clothes but instead is a capsule centred around golf. Seems the singer likes nothing more than swinging a mashie niblick when he’s not belting out Angels and the Swedish brand has produced golf clothing alongside their fashion offering for many years so it all makes sense. The result is more street than green with bright printed shirts and hats and jogging trousers that would probably get the die-hards at St Andrews reaching for a whiskey but it’s good to see someone shake up what is usually a very sartorially challenged sport.

Bottega Veneta’s Home Collection

Continuing their path to world domination, Bottega Veneta have just released their first proper foray into homeware and very covetable a lot of it is too. We probably don’t really need a set of intreccio leather carrots (for €4000) or mini dinosaur but the boxes, cushions and laundry baskets are lovely. And dogs across the world must be praying for their owners to treat them to a collar and leash in Zoomer Green…

Peach Fuzz

Even though you might think that the Scandinavian fashion set only wears black (a myth that is easily dispelled if you witness the riot of colour and print on the front row of Copenhagen Fashion Week most seasons), Pantone definitely don’t agree. Every year the famous colour dictionary chooses a colour which they predict will sweep the runway shows and trickle down to the high street. This year, following past favourites such as Zoomer Green and Viva Magenta, the prediction is that a pale, orangey-pink called Peach Fuzz will be the next big thing. Pantone wax lyrical about it ‘enriching mind body and soul’ and it sure is pretty but we are not sure it works next to many people’s skin tones. One word of advice though: don’t shorthand it with the peach emoji… that means something altogether different.

Supreme x Timberland

Regular readers will know how bored The Editors are of ironic ugly footwear (the supply of which shows no sign of ending – witness Balenciaga’s giant sneakers…) so it is with pleasure that we see a lovely pair of Timberland boots made in collaboration with Supreme.  Made to the traditional design but in an embossed pattern that looks like a tread plate, they come in a delicious pale pink that makes you want to jump in puddles. (They also come in black and tan but who would want those when pink is on offer?)
