week 45.
Things that we love this week: from tomato fragrances straight to the winter season and a starry Xmas campaign.
Prada Linea Rossa FW23

Following the news that Prada will be designing space suits for NASA’s 2025 moon mission, the luxury brand is also keeping us non-astronauts happy too with a large capsule collection for skiers and snowboarders. Part of their sporty Linea Rossa line, the range includes technical jackets, pants and gloves whilst collabs with the likes of Oakley and Faction have resulted in iridescent goggles and ski poles respectively. Whilst we are firmly in the apres-ski camp rather than indulging in the sport itself, it’s always good to see chicer options than the usual lurid salopettes and jackets that blight most pistes these days.
Henrik Vibskov Perfumes

Roses were last summer’s big fragrance trend and there’s a lot of berry scents hitting the market right now but we don’t think anyone expected tomatoes to make an appearance on your bathroom cabinet. Leave it to Danish design renegade Henrik Vibskov to come up with such a left-field – and against all odds, really rather wonderful – idea. After basing his AW23 collection on the humble foodstuff (yes, that actually happened), Vibskov just launched two new fragrances in the same vein: L’eau Rouge Nature and L’eau Rouge Heirloom. Packaged in truly fabulous bottles, they are based around ripe tomatoes and their leaves mixed with basil which aim to transport you to a Mediterranean garden in summer. Delicious.
Jacquemus X Nike

We were beginning to get worried: after all, it seemed like weeks since the king of the collabs Jacquemus had joined forces with anyone to tempt us with more products. But it seems he has been busy as usual as this week sees another capsule collection with regular partner Nike. Most of it is the usual sporty take on the brand’s signature style but we love the one pair of sneakers – a reworking of the iconic Air Force 1 called J Force 1. With handwoven ‘stitching’ details joining the sole to the upper, they have a cool ‘Franken-sneaker’ look about them and are a clever mix of sporty and craftsmanship that reflects both brands. The monochrome colourways are obviously the most wearable but we have to say the bright orange ones pack the most punch.
Nomos Tangente Rosegold Neomatik

You might be surprised, but it’s not only Switzerland where good watches are being produced. To celebrate 175 years of watch-making in Glashüte, the German-based brand Nomos introduced last week a special limited edition of their popular line, Tangente. The design in 18 kt rose gold pays tribute to the model from the early 90s, with a two-tone dial to match the gold case. Its 35mm case houses an automatic movement with 43 hours of power reserve and it is only 3.2mm tall. While the Tangente model is not exactly our cup of tea, in this case, the dial makes a nice touch to the design and actually changes it to our liking. And if this limited model is not a watch you would put on your wrist, have a look at their Club Sport Neomatik line: that’s a killer for us.
Zalando’s Unwrap Your Story with Chloë Sevigny

Halloween might have only just gone but immediately we are thrown into a full-scale assault on Christmas advertising. Cue thousands of cliched images of happy families (albeit more inclusive these days), snowscapes and Xmas dinners. So its kinda refreshing that Zalando have bucked the trend and come up with a much more stylish holiday campaign, starring the queen of cool herself, Chloë Sevigny. Entitled Unwrap Your Story, the print and video series reads more like an editorial, with the star doing usual Xmassy things (picking up the tree, walking to a party) but with an edgy, documentary style that looks more like captured images than set pieces. It’s a cool yule for sure.
