Rest of the body serums

Those that aren’t only for your face

The serum revolution over the past decade means that most of us have got used to using a facial one as part of our daily skincare routine (and if you haven’t started, then catch up!). They are a concentrated formula that delivers an effective dose of moisture/anti-ageing/nourishment directly to your skin in a really easy way. But do you know that the same principles are being used to help out everything from your hands and eyes to your scalp and even eyelashes? It’s the same idea but tailored specifically towards an area that maybe needs some special help. We test-drove a few for you and these were our favourites.

Pro:Lab Pro-Eye Elixir

Just released, this great new serum from the guys at Amazing Space is specially developed to work on the delicate areas below the eye, reducing lines, puffiness and dark shadows. We loved that it was very light and easy to apply – sometimes eye creams still feel a little heavy and drag the skin when applied. Great to keep in the fridge for those mornings-after-the-night-before. Get it here.

BioEffect EGF Hand Serum

Hands are one of the parts of the body that show age the quickest – a phenomenon exacerbated by gloveless exposure on bike handlebars on a winter day. This hand serum, made in Iceland where they know a thing or two about harsh, cold weather, aims to repair some of that damage. Again it is lighter than conventional hand cream and super easy to apply but we found it worked better on the back of the hands rather than the palms as it leaves a bit of a sticky feeling for a short while afterwards. Available here.

Aveda Overnight Scalp Renewal Serum

There are an increasing number of scalp treatments on the market which don’t profess to cure baldness but do their bit to keep your follicles in peak condition and so at least avoid skin dryness and flakiness. This one from Aveda should be massaged into the hair and left in overnight to improve moisture. Like all their products, it smells lovely and is great for those of us with thinner hair and a more exposed pate. You can get it here.

The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Lash and Brow Serum

Maybe for some, a serum to give healthier eyebrows and lashes is one step too far, and, as this requires two applications a day, we might tend to agree. But if you feel you have thinner eyebrows as you get older, then it’s worth giving this serum from The Ordinary a go and see if you notice an improvement. Applying it to eyelashes is a fiddly process though so we are sticking to just brows for now. Get it here.

Nécessaire The Body Serum

If you have serum on all your head, hands, eyes and brows, you might as well go the whole hog and put it on the rest of your body too. This one has pure hyaluronic acid and niacinamide in a gel solution that treats lines and wrinkles and makes you feel all smooth, especially if used overnight where it can really be absorbed. You can get it here.
