The Drama / 2026 – 1h 45m
☆☆☆☆
A dark comedy that leaves you slightly uncomfortable.
When we went to the cinema last weekend, the first thing we saw was a Rolex ad with Zendaya, who just recently became an ambassador for the brand. She is definitely busy, as almost every trailer after the ad featured her as well. And while we are all now waiting for the next season of Euphoria, we were genuinely looking forward to seeing her newest movie, The Drama.
Dark comedy can be a tricky one, but The Drama, directed by Kristoffer Borgli, keeps the balance effortlessly throughout the whole movie. It’s sharp and often genuinely funny, reflecting on couple dynamics and wedding rituals and is well acted by Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, delivering a sharp message that points to how relationships can sometimes handle lies and hypocrisy better than the truth. It’s a great watch that leaves you slightly uncomfortable and quietly nudges you to reflect on some of your own behaviours. However, with all that being said, and with our favourite A24 movie production behind it, the movie perhaps deserved a slightly bolder ending.
