The fall has been upon us for quite some time and winter is on the rise, which may (or may not) put a dampner on your mood. Although I can relate, I find that just the right fragrance can be a remedy to lift your spirits.
To start things off, let’s focus on fragrances and here I share some of my personal favorites that do wonders for me. And just maybe they’ll do the same for you.
Personal note: People might have a knee-jerk reaction to opt solely for deep, woody and musky notes when picking a fragrance for fall. Whilst tempting and understandable, I suggest mixing it up with brighter tones to inject some much-needed dose of vitamin C and D. Trust me, it makes a difference.
Frederic Malle “Portrait Of A Lady”
A sensual modern fragrance combining Turkish rose, sandalwood, white musk and berries like raspberry and black currant. Some might perceive it as a feminine perfume, but it takes on a different character when applied – and it also pairs well with other fragrances when mixed.
Byredo “Sellier”
Sellier is part of the Night Veils collection, which as the name indicates, is the go-to fragrance for the evening and nights. A diffused leathery perfume with notes of black tea and tobacco. As it’s an Extrait de perfume, its higher concentration makes even a small spritz last up to 16 hours — and it adapts to your body temperature.
Wienerblut “Hesperia”
A true mood-lifter with distinct citrus, orange flower blossom and greenery notes. A fragrance is perhaps more associated as a day fragrance in Summer, but personally, I think it works wonders on gloomy days in Fall and Winter as well.
Neanderthal “Them”
A truly unisex fragrance with top notes of orris, seaweed and grapefruit, middle notes of hinoki and neroli and base notes that round everything off with ambrette, musk and sandalwood. This is one of the fragrances, that I find evolves when wearing it, making it a fresh experience every time.
Tobali “Smoke Flower”
A seductive floral scent, mixed in with hints of smokey tobacco and a light dusting of ukon. All in all, a nice combination of both floral and more oud-like characteristics.
