Gift ideas

Things we’d love to receive or give

Don’t leave it to the very last minute – you still have time to order gifts for family, friends or even yourself.  Here are a few suggestions of things we would be more than happy to receive to give you a little inspiration as we go into December and everything can be ordered online to save you having to face crowds, cold weather and those dreaded Christmas markets.

Drake’s Suede and Leather Backgammon Set

Do you know that Backgammon is thought to be the world’s oldest game? All those generations can’t be wrong – it’s strategic, low-tech and very stylish. This portable set in leather and suede isn’t the cheapest but it will raise admiring glances at your local cafe and if it’s too expensive, you can always google better-priced versions. This version is available here.

Skateroom – Jean-Michel Basquiat

We might be a bit too old to skate now and a lot too poor to own a genuine Basquiat but this wall artwork made from boards could make you forget all that and make a nice addition to someone’s interior at the same time. Get it here.

James Bond. Dr. No Book

We are BIG Bond fans (Graham’s second name is Sean after Sean Connery so it was pre-destined) so would love this hefty volume on our coffee table. Beautifully illustrated, the book details the making of the first film, Dr No and is the perfect thing to flick through as you drink a martini. Available here.

Louisiana membership

One of the world’s best – and most beautiful – modern art museums, Louisiana warrants many visits a year if you live in the Nordics and so a membership would be an extra incentive to get yourself there more often. If you live further afield, then maybe a gift of tickets would be a great alternative (plus a link to our city guide for tips for the rest of your trip to Copenhagen.). More info on the website.

Byredo’s home scents Trois Encens

Personally, we generally use scented candles as we love the hygge of the light but this home fragrance set from Byredo is pretty good too with a nice selection of scents and a longer burn time than regular sticks. You can get this set on Byredo’s website.

Loewe blanket

Loewe is undoubtedly one of the very hottest labels on earth at the moment but the clothes can be a little uncompromising for a lot of people so why not buy into the brand’s gorgeous aesthetic with this alpaca blend blanket to casually throw over a sofa or bed?  And it will last waaaay longer than a couple of seasons. Available here.
