We’ve always loved COS for their ability to bring an element of real creativity and quality to the (upper end of) the high street so it’s been interesting to see them reposition themselves as a bona-fide designer brand (albeit still affordable) over the past couple of seasons. Apart from an increased focus on fabric and construction, they have been bold enough to follow their own aesthetic rather than rely on copying like most in the more commercial sector.
To highlight this, Cos have taken to doing full seasonal shows and last week saw them decamp to Athens with a runway presentation in the stunning Dionysus quarry (where the marble used for the Parthenon came from) attended by the likes of Adrien Brody and Sharon Stone (surely invited for her name as much as her sense of style.)
Sadly we weren’t at the actual show itself but we did get a chance to see the collection in Copenhagen this morning.
It was great to see that they put as much effort into the menswear as the women’s (not always the case even for luxury labels) with some dreamy suede jackets, fluid pants that Robin will definitely be wearing and pyjama-style suits in marble-inspired print that might just work for Graham next time he goes on vacation.
