American Vintage’s 20th anniversary

A trip to Marseille

As you are probably already aware, we would never say no to a good press trip, especially when it allows us to leave behind this grey weather here in Copenhagen and enjoy two sunny days in Marseille, which just so happens to be the home of American Vintage.

As soon as Robin arrived, he joined a lunch at a cosy restaurant, Ciccino, followed later by the main celebration, which took place in the evening at the iconic MUCEUM (Musée des civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée). Here, American Vintage, along with the whole team and founder Michael Azoulay, presented the ’20 Years’ collection, with a live performance and plenty of food and cocktails thrown in for good measure. What better way to spend a Tuesday evening than this? We only wish we had more time to discover the city…

Despite its name, American Vintage is neither American nor vintage; instead, it offers well-made made wearable, unisex clothes that easily become part of your wardrobe (Robin is often seen in his fluffy cardigan from a few seasons ago, here seen with a cardigan from the current collection).

The brand has a very international outlook, so they celebrated the 20th anniversary with a world tour of events in Paris, London, Amsterdam, LA and Shanghai, but chose their hometown of Marseille for the finale. The celebrations were fantastic, but we have to admit the jury is out in our minds when it comes to the anniversary collection. It is very logo-heavy and very colourful, and whilst we don’t mind either in moderation, this is a bit too maximalist for us when all put together. But we DO love the brand and will continue to buy into their aesthetic in the usual seasonal collections.

In the meantime, santé et joyeux anniversaire!
